Ginger

Just thought I would give an update on Lucy whose name we changed to Ginger. She did great on the trip home and has adjusted really well. She went to bed in her crate and didn't cry at all. My kids were up at 6:30 this morning so they could play with her. Our cat, Lucky is surprisingly tolerant of her. She likes to lick him and he will just growl at her. She knows enough to leave him alone when that happens. We are so excited to have her join our family. She is doing great.
Thanks, Nikki
Riggins
October 29, 2009
Hi there!!
Wanted to share some pictures of Riggins (formerly Jay) with you....and some of him and his brother Emmitt. He and Emmitt have had a few play dates every week.
We also wanted to thank you....I have never had a pet before (Scott has had many dogs) and was a bit nervous...I have fallen head over heals in love with Riggins. I can't wait to get home every lunch hour and every night just to see him. Oh...he has been plenty naughty as well....mommy no longer has her favorite shoes....but when we are laying on the couch watching a movie and mommy is crying and he licks her tears away, my heart melts. I brought Riggins to see my grandma who has been in a nursing home with Alzheimers for 10 years...usually grandma just sleep the whole time...she doesn't know who anyone is or how to talk anymore...but Riggins was such a good boy and grandma pet him the whole hour we were there! It was the highlight of my year.
Riggins is doing excellent with pottie training....really doesn't ever have accidents in the house. Crate training on the other hand has been a struggle. He does well at nighttime...we get up with him once in the middle of the night...but struggling during the day. I come home every lunch hour, but he just can't seem to make it the 4 or 5 hours needed yet.
Enjoy the pictures---and again--thank you for bringing so much joy to our lives!

Bodhi

Just an update on Beau (now Bodhi or Bo for short).
We are starting puppy kindergarten on the 14th and it will go for 6 weeks at Pet Me Scratch Me here in La Crosse. (www.petmescratchme.com) His first few nights were spent no more than a few inches from me at all times...definitely a mama's boy! He's very shy but is getting braver and meeting new people - mostly family right now. He was fast friends with the cats and is very respectful...luckily they are used to dogs and are quick to teach him his manners. He is officially sleeping on his own in his kennel at night (with one potty break about 3am), only a few whimpers and he's out like a light.
Some pictures to enjoy.

Jersey had a great first night in her new home. I am so thankful for your organization saving animals so they can find terrific homes. I will keep you posted with pictures and progress. We have decided to rename her Hazel.
Also, my girlfriends aunt will be contacting you on Annie. She is very interested and will also provide a terrific home. I gave her your contact information as well as the rescue's email addresses. If you need any other information from me please let me know. Thank you again for bringing Jersey/Hazel into my life.
Thank you

Brewster
October 9, 2009
Hello Mary and other staff,
We took Brewster aka Bones to the vet on Tuesday for a follow-up vaccination. He weighted 9.4 lbs which is a gain of over 2lbs in two weeks. He runs around the yard with me and likes to run up and down the basement stairs although this morning he rolled down half of them. I have let him chew a little on pears and apples but I don't let him eat a lot at a time.
We are working very hard to "potty" train him. He does go outside but hasn't learned to telegraph his needs very well. He is very precious and almost too needy, always wanting to be close. The biggest problem is when we both have to leave the house. Then he is barricaded in the kitchen with the door to his kennel left open.
The vet said he looks like a daschound. I read that you got the eleven pups and the mother when the pups were only 5 days old. I now wonder if somehow he was added to the litter, not that I really care, just curious. I'll try to send a picture in a few weeks.
Sincerely,
John

Hi there,
Well we made it through the first couple of days with Jazz a.k.a. Nellie. She is such a sweet sweet baby. We love her so so much. She loves our dog Boo and is curious about the cats. She is getting the potty thing down by following Boo around in the yard. We could not be happier. What an awesome little girl she is.

Hi Mary:
Stella is adapting to her new home very well. Her & Opie have become fast friends and play together a lot. She likes my other two senior dogs, Shadow & Rocky, but mostly plays with Opie. She doesn’t mind the cats and only chases them occasionally, but Opie does the same thing. She has gotten used to the goats & sheep, but barks at the Pot Belly Pigs. She definitely has a beagle bark. I couldn’t believe such a loud bark could come from such a little dog. She doesn’t bark much, but you can pick her bark out from the rest of the group. She is still afraid at times, but we just pick her up and reassure her that she will be fine. She is very sweet and is happy to see people. My son is not a big fan of little dogs, but Stella really likes him and the minute he sits down in the living room she is on his lap for some loving.
I think it was fate that I met Stella that day - She is playful to Opie, which is what I wanted for him since my Great Dane Bella passed away and she is so sweet and loving which Bella was also. I took Stella to see my Vet for a good checkup and there was a stitch knot that had come up through the skin by her spay incision, so Dr. Palmer said this might hurt her alittle as she removed it, but Stella didn’t even flinch. She just layed there on her side with her legs apart. Bella was just like that also, Dr. Palmer could do anything to her and she would always tolerate it. Dr. Palmer said that she thinks that Stella was a “gift” from Bella.
I have attached a couple of pictures of her hanging out with Opie & Shadow in the sun by the patio door.
Thanks for letting us adopt this very special girl.
Take Care and Happy Holidays!

Hello,
I recently adopted Madeline from you and just wanted you to know she is wonderful!!! We picked her up on Halloweeen and she was a huge surprise for my kids. We are very happy with her joining our family. She has really bonded to us and has doubled in size the month we've had her. Im still wondering her mix and waver between predicting shepard lab and shep/akita mix, This next year with her should be interesting. Her tail is still mostly curly but her ears are starting to stand up. Wish I could get a good picture of her when she skreeches to a halt and her ears are standin/flopping inwards but I havent got it yet.....maybe on the next update. She is a food hound to the max even though I dont let anyone give her people food......a future counter surfer I fear. She loves the kids and that is the most important. She has started to show a protective side too,,,,,grumbling at noises and strangers that show up in the early in the morning. Not overly agressive, but I am glad she is alert! Just thought you might like to hear how one of your babies is doing in her new home. Also wanted you to know that I was very impressed with how your rescue operates and I have spread the word about you guys to everyone (Madde seems to make a great impression on all who meet her) so I hope some good future parents come your way! Hope your christmas holidays are really wonderfilled! you certainly made our Halloween wonderful, (the extra trick or treat bag yougave us was extra special to my son).
Thanks again for everything,
Robin and the kids, Madeline's family

Hi, Just wanted to drop a note of thanks and wish you a Merry Christmas. We are the family that adopted Mya from Annies litter. We remaned her Jersey and it seems to fit her well. We could not have asked for a better dog. She fits in great with our family. We are a little surprised at how small she is. We thought she would be more Annies size, and she will probably get bigger yet, but so far, she is about the size of a doxie. Thanks again for all you do and for allowing us to adopt Jersey(Mya), We couldn't imagine our family without her now!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Hi Glenda,
So we have had Jett now for about 2 months, and i just wanted to give to an update. We kept his name. He is adjusting well, he loves to eat.....everything. :) I had to puppy proof the house. He is a sweetheart most of the time. He potty trained really quick, and seems very smart. He loves his bones and looking out our big window. He spends a lot of the time laying in front of the heater vent when its on. I'm real curious how big he will get so i will keep you updated with pics. We just wanted to say thank you, hes a blessing.
